Some Import Information to Consider When Choosing Wine Clubs

Have you ever considered joining a wine club? Wine clubs are an excellent resource for learning more about wine. Other wine clubs help their members collect rare bottles of wine and still others that focus on only the best of the best. Chances are, no matter where your wine interests lie, you will find a wine club that caters to it.

Perhaps you really enjoy sparkling wine; you can find a specialty wine club that caters specifically to you and others like you. Likewise, you can find clubs that specialize only in California wines, Italian wines, and so on. Some clubs are perfect for wine beginners, while others are best suited to the experienced palate.

Many wine clubs are reasonably priced, though some can be quite expensive. They will ship you two bottles of wine per month to enjoy. Some only ship quarterly. Many clubs give you the choice of all red wine, a mix of red and white, or all white wine. Be sure and check that the club you are considering offers the wines you prefer. Other clubs let you join by purchasing a set number of bottles, and then you only buy when you want as long as you buy a minimum number per year.

Some wine clubs are run by vineyards, but most gather wine from many different places. No matter what your criteria is, remember to consider the requirements of the membership and for what reasons you would like to try their wines.

  • Do you want to age your wine or do you prefer to drink some as part of your normal routine?

  • Do you prefer a specific region or variety of wine?

  • What choices does the wine club offer you?

  • Is there a guarantee of satisfaction? Are there reviews you can read from other members?

  • Do you have any flexibility as a member?

All of these questions are important when you choose a wine club. Reviews can be found on numerous internet sites about wine clubs. Several offer unbiased reviews of a number of clubs. Hopefully, this may make your own choice easier. Many of these sites have screened the clubs they list, so you know ahead of time that they are reliable and trustworthy. Some even rate the pricing and explain what you get for your money. These sites are a great resource when you are trying to choose the right club.

Many wine clubs also sell gift memberships that you can give to other wine lovers. Many of these gift packages will include anywhere from a couple of months trial membership to a full year. From a single bottle per month that may only be $20 per month to the crème de la crème that may top out at more than $150 per month, there is a membership for everyone.

No matter what wines you like best, joining a wine club can expose you to new wines that you will never see in your local shop. It is worth the expense to join and discover more wines than you knew existed.
